Just finished gravity rush a while ago and shocked at how little hype or recognition it got. The vita is worth getting for this game alone, IMO. Kudos to japan studio for creating such a unique and intriguing ip.

To be able to fly freely and cling onto the walls within the premise of controlling gravity is just brilliant. I spent hours just flying around town from the start while barely scraping the surface of the story. Testing the height limit while lying onto the floating billboard, testing the horizontal distance limit ( which I later increase with the upgrades ) are among the few things I find really fun doing. I've never experience a game that urge me to explore so much. It's like it's harnessing my desire to fly in this video game. For that alone, I can say that in terms of exploration, gravity rush beats any other game I've experienced.

I lost a bit of my interest about halfway through the story but that quickly fixed itself soon as more interesting characters appeared. One thing I would like this game to add is more character interactions. Even better yet is another companion besides dusty that can enrich the journey with random remarks or conversation. The game feels a bit lonely at times which is a shame.

Finally, the battle system is fun, especially for enemies that are flying around. Chasing around the air with is one my favorite battles. But they should really tweak it more to make it more engaging with more methods to avoid enemy attacks, more variety in the navi's attacks, more moves like counter attacking and more. It's probably the only major complaint I have.

Last but not least, I'm shocked at the technical capabilities of the vita and what japan studio can offer. It really is such a shame that the 3ds took off but the vita didn't. I know it can't be helped but so many people miss out on so much simply because of luck or lack of, and sony's apparent incompetence (I think they're competent, just too stretched out with 3 consoles to support.)

Anyway, although it is late happy holidays everyone.
