Even spyro who the first game in the series was Named after "Skylanders : Spyro's Adventure" has now been relegated to a very background skylander character.

Just to point out in that picture I believe we have 59 unique skylanders so that isn't even 1/3 of the toys. (there are toys which are not skylanders themselves)

I am well aware of that :) With your logic we wouldn't have Jigglypuff in eg. Brawl. Jigglypuff isn't a main character among the 151 original Pokémon.
