Why didn't Sony and Nintendo copy the kinect?

Pack an expensive camera in with the console, then lose out on all the money for extra gadgets?
For precision gaming Kinect is not good enough, it is the best casual dance peripheral though. (Still can't keep up with DDR experts, but that falls under precision gaming)
