But the simle fact that it exists splits the player base. One of the only people that I usually get a chance to play with is all into that stuff, so there's just no point in playing with him because I'll barely land a single hit the whole time. If you're lucky enough to have other freinds who play casually then that's great, but otherwise if you're not willing to learn the stuff then you'll never even have fun.
It's sort of like when I tried to play Marko Kart DS online. Every single other player would just slide boost ahead of me. Every game, every time, they just shot ahead and left me with no chance. I didn't want to just slide boost the whole time, so I had to quit. And I imagine it would probably be like that if I tried to play Brawl online too.
