Dragon Age isn't Mass Effect, they proved this when Dragon Age II pretty much said "FUCK YOU" to players who imported their save.

Kill characters in Origins?  Well now they are alive again, because they wanted them to appear in DAII.  There was almost no carryover, 95% of it was in text files.

Starting DAIII with a fresh save and no import will likely not make much of a difference.

Not sure which characters you're talking about. All the characters I killed stayed dead. Did you kill Zevran or something?
