I've been around long enough to have seen many cats come and go. Some peacefully, some tragically. But as Stof said, in the end it's not how they die that matters, but how they lived and Tripod have a wonderful (and extented!) life because of you and your family.
My sympathies. It's never easy to lose a friend.
