BF4 has really hurt the series reputation, and it was a missed opportunity for DICE and EA to gain a good foothold the new consoles. They're only getting what they deserve though, while there are bugs in every game, you simply can't release a game with so many game breaking ones; that being said, when bf4 does work, it is a joy to play.
