One thing that people fail to consider, American sports (generally) are inflated when it comes to the amount of action.
For instance a touch down is worth 7 (really only 6 but if you consider a chip shot from 20 yards action a hard task...) a field goal in basketball (why in basketball is a shot considered a field goal?) is worth 2 (excluding 3 pointers.)
so if a football game ends 14-7 it was really only 2-1.
basketball in a game that 100-80 is really only (about) 90 total scores.
i know the math isn't perfect but when people say that football is high scoring...not really. sure it can be 28-7, which is really only 4-1, but is that high scoring? 5 goals in the span of 3-4 hours...yet in soccer in an 1 1/2 hours you can have the same about of points, give or take.
basketball is high scoring, but generally american sports are inflated by fictitious point scale. (except for baseball)
just something to consider.
