I didn't say that. I just said that their mostly worthless which is true. 

Not true at all.  And you have to take into account views on YouTube, livestream, as well as the eShop on both systems.  eShop viewership is higher than it is on YouTube, as Iwata mentions at every briefing.

Also, these Directs are covered by the press and they trend on Twitter.  The game press treats them as press conferences, which they basically are, so even if someone doesn't watch it, chances are someone will see one or two highlights from it on one of their sites. 

ND's are definitely not worthless.  Unless you don't know what you're talking about.  In that case, I could see how one might assume they serve no purpose.
