The reason why Sony released GT6 on PS3 is because there's a bigger installed user base.
So in a sense they sold more than they could now on PS4.
But it was still a bad decision because, GT5 already pushed the enveloped far on PS3, and GT6 is just redundant so not much people care, and it's the best way to make an IP loose it's appeal.
Fortunately the next one is going to be a leap forward on PS4, and because there's already DriveClub coming, it won't be anytime soon.
