Try and go to a store, I know a couple of people who are trying to get them for christmas, it's impossible!
However, my guess is that enough people waited for either the xb1 or ps4 that they will both sell whatever is available until at least January... maybe as far as March or April (I.E.: the sales numbers are limited by the number of units available).
With that said, unless something magical happen for Microsoft (people really really freak out over titanfall and Sony does not manage to get people excited over their exclusives is the only thing I can see) the split in demand between the two will favor the PS4, because games will constantly either look and/or play better on it.
You can scream all you want, make all sort of scenarios, most people are not stupid and they will pick what makes sense to them (shaky kinect controls will not sway people to the xb1, they already had kinect on their 360 and they sold it to the pawnshop or put it in the trash).
