Well, for one I have to write the remainder of the week off due to how I feel after doing something like that. Yes even with someone I won't see again etc.

Try online chats. It's harder than you think, but easier than in real life. Just find any girl, hell a guy even, and chat them up online (video chat). If you can get past all the dicks (literally) then it's a great way to practice 1 v 1 social behavior.
