To me it's like this:
WPB: It's like being kicked in the nads.
RROD: It's like having your nads cut off.
Nintendo told people that you may be kicked in the nads, and they're happy to put an ice pack on it.
Microsoft cut off your nads when you were in surgery, and didn't bother admitting it, until multiple people threatened to sue for malpractice.
And, to me, that is why Nintendo gets less flak (and deservedly so).
