Differences:
- RROD was a problem from day one, and lasted for over a year with Microsoft claiming that their defect rate was no worse than any other system.
- The Waranty on the XBox 360 was insanely short for such a complicated peice of hardware (6 months I believe) and many people were forced to pay over $100 to get their system repaired (some did this multiple times).
- The RROD impacted every game and your system became entirely worthless.
Right now we don't know the size of this problem, it hasn't been around for long (this is the first time I have heard of it), if it is a manufacturing defect Nintendo is (likely) going to fix it at no cost regardless of whether it is under waranty (they've done it before) and it (currently) only impacts brawl.
