If people are looking at the Wii-U , a home console that has sold around 5 million and say that this is good and can only get better, but then turn around look at the Vita which is a handheld (which is supposed to be less desirable than a home console), it has sold over 6 million, but state that it is not selling well ?
Compared to the 3DS, its not. Its getting killed, but the maching is pushing over 100k a week. Thats not a bad number at all. If the Vita can go o to sell above 80 million as the PSP did, I would say that's a win for Sony.
IMO the Vita needs 3 things to see a huge sales spike.
(1) Better marketing. Make a 60 sec commercial showcasing raw in game shots/ Media features/Photo app/Netflix/ Killzone footage, Sackboy's face at least 10 times during the clip, Tearaway, Need For Speed gameplay.
(2) Lower the blasted memory card prices. There is no reason for them to be this expensive. Most 36 gig SD cards are selling for around $20. You do this, gamer's will purchase more games
(3) Lower the price to $150. Don't get me wrong, the $179 price point is good, but in a market where smart phone games are so convenient and cheap, purchasing a handheld at around $200 is not an easy purchase.
If Sony can bundle the PS4 + Vita at a price point of $550 in the near future, I see the PS4 demand boosting Vita sales through Jan 2014 and beyond...... Keep on Gaming.
