I have no quarrel paying for the service to access online, as I have paid for XBL in the past, getting free games is a bonus, what I have a quarrel with, however, is that you state that these games are "yours", they are not. Once you stop paying for the service, you don't own them anymore. What it was on PS3 is a glorified rental service, what it is on PS4 is significantly more value seeing as they've now decided to put the online behind a paywall.
I think what you're missing out on are those casual gamers that only intend to buy console for a chosen few games, like COD or Fifa, and won't really end up playing jack shit besides those two franchises, that's who Sony hurt with these new additions for PS4, but at least the price point is lower, so it kind of justifies choosing PS4 over XB1.
