It is to be expected that after the holidays that the PS4 and Xbox One will have a pretty drastic decline in sales. Not only because it is no longer the holidays but I also believe a lot of the hype will have died off by that point. Maybe it'll take another month or so, not sure yet.
The thing is, software sells hardware. The question really remains to see how well third party games can push the PS4 and Xbox One. At the moment I do believe Xbox One has a slightly better exclusive list with Forza 5, Dead Rising 3, and Killer Instinct. However, it's bigger games won't be out until Q3 or Q4 of next year most likely(Same goes to Sony). Until then it will be relying on third party games, TitanFall, Plants vs Zombies, and Kinect Sports Rivals. TitanFall is the big one on this list and it really depends on how good this game is to see how far it will push Xbox One as it is definitely being marketed for XBO over PC/X360. kinect Sports while has been a big time seller in the past I'm not sure how it'll fair outside of the holidays.
Then you have PS4 which right now is relying on Killzone and third parties. It does have InFamous coming around the same time as TitanFall to counter that but InFamous has never been known as a high tier game. Instead it can usually hit 1 million on its own and then it gets heavily bundled so I'm not entireley sure it will push the PS4 that far either. Don't get me wrong, I expect it to have a high attatch ratio and give PS4 a sales spike but not something that will push it through out the entire first half of the year. Also Driveclub could act as a wildcard for Sony as we don't know if it'll be good or not. It sure is beautiful though xD
The difference is something I see a lot of people often ignoring is that third party games are much more dominating than first parties. Because of this the PS4/XBO should have better legs than the WiiU which was unable to rely on third parties (A lot of it their own fault and some on third parties) but when there is plenty of cross gen games it is hard to say that people will be upgrading for better graphics alone.
On the other hand PS4 is only $400 which is in my opinion one of the biggest factors going into next year. XBO doesn't have the same advantage but after using Kinect 2.0 myself I can defintely see it as a selling factor. None the less $400 will be more appealing most likely.
Anyways I want to know if you all think that XBO/PS4 will have a rough time for the first half of next year? Or do you expect them to stay strong?

What is hurting the PS4 the most is the lack of consoles available. Either people are forced to wait, or they will cave in and buy a Wii U, 3DS, or Xbox One if they can get one available. I was lucky to get TWO at launch delivered to my doorstop by Amazon(Before they limited pre-orders to one per customer)
What helped the PS4 is that all the die hard Call of Duty and Battlefield fans get their games Day 1 on the console. Resogun and Warframe are both amazing games you get for free(All PS4's come with a Month of PS Plus, but ONLY if you are not already a subscriber, if you are, give those codes to a friend, they won't work while you have a subscription)
I find it funny that Xbox One is not getting Injustice Gods Among Us because of Killer Instinct.
A lot of people want a PS4, a lot of people will wait for a PS4.
In my opinion, the PS4 will end up first place once they fix the console out of stocks, however the Wii U is going to pick up momentum and has been since The Wind Waker remake released.
