I own all three current Playstation systems for someone like me not to get Plus would make me a moron. Yes if you only have a PS4 then plus is not as nice of a package. But PS4 does not do certain things that Xbox Live does, specifically hiding everything behind a pay wall. Want to stream Hulu, Amazon or Netflix? It is easy and free on PS4, you have to be a gold member for 360 or Xbone.
Internet Explorer same thing as above locked behind a pay wall and half the speed of Sony's free version on PS4.
F2P games are not locked on PS4.
That is the big difference between the two systems, The new Live has lots of features like the NFL integration, tv streaming, etc. but without live your system is severely limited. On PS4 you can do pretty much everything except online multi player without plus.
