Most Americans are big guys so they prefer playing American sports like American football, basketball and baseball which they excel at. The Americans like to be different from the rest of the world.
The acquisition of soccer legend David Beckham to play for LA Galaxy has helped boost the popularity of soccer in America. But soccer will not be as popular as American football, baseball, basketball or golf in the USA.
Wealthy Americans have invested heavily in soccer teams overseas particularly English soccer where billionaire Americans have invested in Liverpool and Manchester United Football Clubs in the English Premier League.
