I personally don't consider Monster Hunter an RPG, I would call it an action game with some RPG elements. (but I couldn't call it an Action RPG either)
OT: Mario RPGs, even with the dissapointment of Super Paper Mario and Sticker Stars (although I haven't played the latter), that series is amazing. The Mario & Luigi series is also included here. Second would be Fire Emblem.
