Having digital rights can work in your favor. Lets say you own digital rights to a 360 game and M$ decides to be very nice and say, well why not? If there is an Xbox One version you can have ownership to that too. It's possible, considering how M$ wants to unify Windows 8, Windows Phone and Xbox One in the future. The 360 has had a lot of great deals over the past year in addition to the free gold games. I have double dipped on the cheap games just to get digital rights, even though I already have the physical game. Most of the games were around the $5-$10 range.
