Is X1 forcing Kinect on us any different than PS3 forcing Bluray on us?

When Sony used CD-ROM and DVD, it made sense because they were reasonably priced technologies.

However, Sony put Bluray in PS3 when it was still very expensive. They had another option that was cheap, DVD.

DVD wasn't an option in terms of HD gaming. Also wasn't X360 forcing HD-DVD on ppl?
