But that gif was horrible and very badly done. check thoses png on a native 1080p display:

And remember that the sharpening filter is perfect for compressed or downsampled media. But when you compare on a native screen, the illusions are shattered.

Wow, if people still cant tell them apart there is clearly something wrong with their eyes. Colors are much more vibrant on PS4 and everything is just sharper, I dont even need to zoom in to see the difference.

The difference is easy to see but as to which one is better I still couldn't tell. The PS4 one seems too light and the boat seems blurry, the leaves in the tree look better though. There isn't one of the two that makes me go "Wow, this is much better" or "Damn, this looks bad".

Then you'd be able to once you see them on a 1080p tv screen. But just by looking at those pics on my monitor its very apparent which one is sharper, has a higher resolution, more vivid colors and better AA. The disparity in graphics is bigger than any PS360 multiplat game. I was anticipating true next gen multiplats to be better on PS4 but honestly didnt expect cross gen games that dont push HW to look better as well.

If you really think the boat seems blurry compared to X1 then I think you really prefer the sharpening effect, (highlight some details, destroy most others).

But even if X1 seems sharper at some distance, when you look closer you'll see that in fact there are less sub-details on the "sharpened" 900p ship compared to 1080p, that's a tru fact, look anywhere on the image.

You know, the first 2 weeks I was like you and really, honestly prefered any X1 version of games I watched, because as you said, X1 seemed "sharper".

But then I understood my mistake. the sharpening effect completely destroy sub-details and invent artifacts, make all the textures grainy, is horrible artistically, doesn't respect the original work of the designers. I am talking here only of the magical sharpener, not the slight resolution difference which is less important and not a big deal.

But this sharpening with the combined crushed black.... It is evil. No wonder Dice removed the sharpen effect on the retail X1 BF4.
