The reason there are two parties is really because America is based on two principals. What is the constitution all about? Freedom and Equality.. However, as wise as the founding fathers were, you cannot have both of these values at once. Pick one.
If you want to give freedom, then give freedom. Leave people alone, don't have a government that tells them what they can and cannot do. Don't tax half their income, and don't punish those who have worked hard and accumulated wealth. This is the bedrock for Republicans.
If you want Equality for all, then support equality. Don't let rich kids have better educations, and don't let some people starve while others dine on silver. Tax the rich to support the poor, have equal rights for everyone across the board. This is the bedrock for Democrats.
At the same time you could also say who do you trust more. Big Government or Big Business? Democrats trust the government with everything from feeding the poor to health care to education. Republicans trust that capitalism and business competition will create the best systems possible.
