No this is wrong. Massively.
Run the Calibrate HDTV under settings. It starts by clearly saying make sure you have turned ON the 1080p setting if your TV supports it. Then it runs you through resetting all TV sttings to factory. Then it runs through all Contrast, Brightness, Black Level settings, Colour Temperature Rone among others. It requires you to follow it exactly the order Microsoft are telling you to do it. Its way more extensive than the set ups you get on Blurays for example.
My blacks actually arent crushed. I played this last night to see. My picture is not like the top ones in this thread. But more importantly are not like the bottom washed ut ones either.
If you run the set up and do it properly at 1080p you do not get crushed blacks. The image for example in a dark scene is not invisible in places.
Categorically. The 1080p image I recieve after doing the set up is infinitely better than without set up and 720p.
