OP were you a fan of SEGA? How did it work for them?
Heres the problem. The people that buy Nintendo games are not necessarely the same people that buy Xbox's and PS'. Nintendo would lose an important part of their market, just like SEGA has. Having that exclusive platform is what makes those games sucessful. In another companies platform the games will lose their identity and their weight. Seriously... again, look at SEGA. How they went from the best software developer in the world to beeing almost irrelevant today.
Going third party, does not work. If you are a Nintendo fan, you should tell them to stick to the portable market, but they shouldnt have anything to do with Playstation and Xbox brands or they will dilute their own Nintendo brand.
Actually why dont you try to picture how Super Mario 3D world would happen if it came out on the new consoles. Poor graphics! Childish game! Doesnt innovate! Its 3D land in HD. Without the special Nintendo console sauce, Mario and all their games will lose importance and their dedicated fanbase. They will be compared to GTA6, Uncharted 4, Halo 5 in the shelves. Its not the right audience for Nintendo games.
