Probably already been said in this thread, but like Nintendo themselves said: They make hardware for their software,
They don't take into account 3rd parties at all when making that decision, they just build something that will work with their new game ideas, if they want to make VR games they will build the console around that; if they want touch screen controls and asymmetric gameplay, they will make the Wii U or DS ... You get the point.
If they went 3rd party hell yes they would make money, but it would be the same damn game with same controls for generations to come which is something Nintendo doesn't embrace. All the games you see on Wii and DS wouldn't be possible without Nintendo's innovative ideas.
What do MS or Sony fans think about having all their exclusives on a Nintendo console?
