anyway I checked.... they do not charge you the unit... they do an authorization check on your account and you need to have the money on it... but they only debit the account if you do not send back the unit in 14 day time frame they give you.... this is a rather common practice actually... when I rent moving trucks they do the same with the security deposit... it's pretty much like any deposit you would do with a check except they don't cash it....

I find that to be a really small inconvenience to get a replacement within 2 business days.... especially since most account authorize an overdraft around 500 bucks by default unless you asked for lower or you overdrafted a lot in the past...
