I own both. It really depends on YOU. Pokemon alone made a 3DS a must have for me, so I got one when the XL first came out, knowing we'd get a pokemon game eventually. I have all the major games for the system and it's a great system. 3D land, Mario Kart 7 and the Zeldas are definite must haves. I also recommend the tremendously fun Dillon's Rolling Western from the EShop.

However, the Vita gives you so much value with playstation plus that it will eventually save you alot of money over time. I still buy alot of games, but I've discovered so many other games thanks to the amazing service. You can even log into your account at playstation.com and "download" ps3 and ps4 games that are free with ps plus, you don't even need to own the console. Then when you do eventually get the system, you'll be able to download and play ALL of those games. I'm looking forward to getting a PS4 so I can remote play assassin's creed 4, Watch Dogs, Infamous and Thief while lounging around the house. Wish they'd port over GTA V... To top it off, Tearaway and Killzone are kickass by the way.

Both systems have so much going for them. It really comes down to which one you prefer.

By the way! 3DS XLs are currently $150 at target! So if you're going to get one, now is the time to buy. Missed a great deal on Amazon from yesterday! The 3g/wifi vita walking dead bundle with digital download codes for uncharted, sly cooper and retro city rampage was $175. Best deal I've ever seen for a vita.
