Shadow of the Colossus (PS2/2005) Guessed by FOX
I bought by PS2 around 2008 and started stocking up on cheap, highly-rated titles. I picked up Ratchet & Clank, Jak and Daxter, GTA, Devil May Cry, and this mystery title called Shadow of the Colossus. Critics seemed to love it and it was less than $20. Little did I know that five year later, I would have fallen in love with Colossus and Ico, and become one of the biggest cheerleaders for The Last Guardian. Shadow of the Colossus is quite unlike any other game I've played. It consists entirely of boss fights. It might have become tedious, but the developers at Team Ico managed to pace the game perfectly, so the fights are spread out evenly, and managed to design the colossi so well that each battle is a game in itself. As with Ico, SOTC is heavy with atmosphere and mood and light on direct storytelling and dialogue. And it's all the better for it. This is a game that's better felt than heard.
