Everyone knows that the hardware is the base of these systems. I know people like to get caught up in the specs of the systems, but that is just the beginning. It's the software that really matters... The games.

While that is true, they are makings games for the hardware, and you need said hardware not to break to play those games :P So knowing how it fairs in the temperate department etc is important.

Also the hardware determines how easy it is to developer for, which is very important (*cough* PS3 ports). Also, having better graphics is always a nice plus ^^ A game that plays well and looks good almost always gets to ride the hype train all the way to big numbers town.
