33. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (22 last year), first impression 9, replay 8, technical 7.5

Pros: The moodiest of the Zelda games, it is still top-of-the-line for creating emotional scenes, like this one, and the game gave us a taste of what wide-open Hylian fields could really look like. Epic boss-fights, too.

Cons: It was the nadir of dungeon difficulty for 3D Zelda, and close to the nadir for combat difficulty (which shall forever be held by Wind Waker and its "press A to win" mechanic). The big Hylian fields were almost as empty and lifeless as Wind Waker's sea without the excuse of being sea.

Wind Waker's sea is far from lifeless. There's towers, barrels, sharks, tornadoes, giant octopuses, hidden treasure, enemy ships, ghost ships, the weather changes from sunny to rainy to full out rainstorm. Skyward Sword's sky, now that was lifeless!
