A few supermarkets in a single country taking them off store shelves is not exactly what I call *completely removed from store shelves world over*. I will return it to you, so you think that Nintendo will let 1 of their 2 major products get completely taken off store shelves without doing anything? You are kidding yourself if you believe that. If it gets to the point where every single stores are taking them off their shelves, then yea, Nintendo will most definetly buy store shelf. If you believe otherwise, then I have no clue what to tell you.

Did I say that had happened yet? no I didn't, I said it will be on the cards if WiiU sales continue to do as poorly as they are.
I think Nintendo don't have much say in the matter, if consumers don't want their product there is no point on wasting money putting on shelves to collect dust. Have you done the calculations on how much it would cost Nintendo? Or do you think they're willing to spend any amount? I mean you realise that retail stores in the world that stock video game system run into the millions right?

I was saying that basing off the assumption that it does happen where it gets taken completely off store shelves. And yes, Nintendo won't have a choice. They would probably buy store shelves from most of the major retailers like gamestop, walmart, toys r us, games, etc. Then again, it probably won't get to that point since even the vita is still found in most retailers and the gamecube did not have that problem if I recall correctly.
Basically, my point is, it's not a matter of if it would lose them a lot of money doing so but moreso that they would not have a choice to do so if it came down to that situation.

Vita will have the same problem in due time. Gamecube didn't do as bad as either of those systems I don't think? I just don't see Nintendo buying shelf space for what would amount to less than 10k or under a month sold in the US (the point at which they'd be taken off shelves, that and they wouldn't be able to buy much shelf space per store).
Nintendo would be buying shelf space just because. If it gets taken off the shelves in the first place it means consumers really don't want it, so yeah it would be a total waste of Nintendo's money. I also think it would be costly.

And it is probably never going to reach that point. even the wii is selling much more then that every month. Besides, currently, NA is wiiU's strongest market. The part where it is at risk is Europe, which is where i'd see them buy some shelf space. They wouldn't want to be forced to discontinue a system that is merely 1-2years old (at that time).
Then again, I have a very hard time seeing that happen with all of their key franchises launching in 2014. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

WiiU went down to 30k a month in the year, there is nothing to stop it dropping below that again.
