That wasn't true for last gen. MS, Sony and most third parties operated in the red for much of the time.

Also, the PS4 and One have not lifted sales of CoD, AC or other games. Any company losing money before will not suddenly be making money now.

Were you expecting CoD and AC ps4/xb1 versions to sell 10s of millions in the first week? 

First week US PS4+PS3+360 sales, plus reasonable extrapolation of One sales from those and the VGC preorders, show CoD and AC sold less than last year's PS3+360 total

This does not imply a healthy game industry. Every company in the games industry had to be projecting that the new consoles would increase the size of the industry. Personally I was expecting a modest increase. No one predicted a decrease.

Does this not strike you as worrying for the industry? Do you think the industry can increase profits while dev costs go up and sales go down? Or do you think future data will contradict this?
