Complexity is one thing, but Xenogears and Saga just suffer far too much from story padding for it's actual Plot to be believable. Religious overtones are cool but only when done right. Just don't feel that they were in that series. And in full disclosure......Xenosaga's story was much better than gears.

Do you think that Saga handled religious overtones better than Gears? I thought it turned out a good bit more nonsensical (probably when it brought real-world religion into the mix, as opposed to perfectly fine symbolism).

It was better in Xenosaga until they started getting all a bit too serious. Seeing as Saga was heavily rushed they threw a lot of stuff at you at the last minute to make it all tie in with Gears. The Saga was suppose to be 7 parts but truncated to lik 3.5 games. I enjoyed the Chaos when he was "Godlike" more than finding out he was basically Jesus. And KosMos being Mary Madaline's Shell and T-Elos her soul was a twist from hell.

Its also easy to forget sometimes that Xenosaga is a "prequel" because the games feel far more advanced in not only just graphics.

That twist you enjoy so much is exactly what I've been talking about - that kind of ridiculousness which put me off to begin with.
