I was wondering this too. Since the score appears to be an average, would taking the MP out cause this cause the average to go up and make this a better game? I don't quite get the rating system. 

It would be a 7.1 without multiplayer yes.  The overall is basically the over all package averaged.  The individual scores is so you can judge on each individual part of the game.
