Man, since imo the best-looking Wii games make about 80% of PS3/360 games look like garbage, I guess this means I can expect the best-looking Wii U games to make about 99% of PS4/XO games look awful.

holy shit at this post O_O

Well look at Mario Galaxy. Now I'm not talking about technical stuff "the lighting isn't very complex" / "no anti-aliasing meh." The game just looks good. It runs very smoothly. Its visual design is excellent.

Maybe the best way to illustrate my opinion is to offer an example from the opposite end. Have you played Beyond: Two Souls? Well, all the HD resolution, anti-aliasing, motion-captured acting, and complex physics and lighting engines in the world didn't do that game a bit of good. It looks like garbage. It's plagued by ungodly amounts of pop-in, unloaded textures, and harsh framerate drops. This is a late-generation first-party effort, and on top of that this game's sole purpose was to look good (you had one job, David Cage).

Some hiccups are expected, of course, as no game is perfect. Every game is bound to have its fair share of silly glitches or mistakes. But most of the 7th-gen games I experienced were loaded with them. The best-looking Wii games run circles around the likes of Mass Effect and Skyrim.

People usually dismiss games like Mario Galaxy from discussions like this because it's "cartoony." They liken that to taking the easy way out, as though it's so easy to make such a cohesive visual design strung together by nearly flawless programming. If it was easy, everyone would do it.

Yeah, im not even going to dignify this with an answer, so I'll just let the pictures do the talk. Beyond is easly in one of the top 3 best looking games of the 7th gen, and it utterly destoryes any nintendo game ever made
