"One of the major features touted by Xbox One exclusive Forza Motorsport 5, save for its impeccable graphics, is the seamless Drivatar system. The Xbox One game is locked at 60 frames per second and a 1080p resolution, conveying a level of clarity, lighting quality and polished material detail that I have not yet seen in a console racing game. Reflections wrap around finely pearlescent paint in just the right way. You can almost feel the patterned pockmarks in the steering wheel's leather. The environments, which include Spain's twisting Catalunya track and the narrow streets of the aforementioned Prague, are warmly lit but predominantly static, as if there's no oxygen outside your car. This is partially a product of Forza 5's ultra-clean presentation (with some distracting aliasing here and there), but more due to what we see in other blockbuster games: cinematic and unrealistic images designed to blow your eyeballs through the back of your head."

"The way sunlight comes flooding through your windshield as you race across the Prague circuit's cobblestone bridge, or the excellent orchestral soundtrack that makes each race feel like the climax of a James Bond movie--Forza 5 is an absolutely beautiful game full of immersive detail. And nowhere is that more visible than in the remarkable cockpit views, where intricate stitch work and high-resolution textures serve as rich palettes for the game's drastically improved lighting effects. Even the Dolby cassette deck on a '92 Golf GTi is a thing of beauty."

"On track, things are equally impressive. Supremely realistic lighting slides over bodywork, casting impeccable shadows. Brake lights glow more realistically than ever. Flecks of rubber collect on the paintwork. Cosmetic damage doesn’t really handle massive accidents but small scrapes and nudges are well-translated to your car’s panels. You’ll even see specks of different coloured paint from rubbing against opponents."

"The frame-rate never dips, textures are silky smooth and car models have been meticulously recreated to the extent that you can almost smell the leather interior and alpine air freshener. It's perhaps the lighting effects that are most impressive, however. Whether racing under bright sunshine or a thick blanket of grey cloud, lighting retains its consistency regardless of the position of the car against the sun.
Sunshine looks so natural, in fact, that it almost seems unwise to stare directly at it, and you'll most certainly struggle to see the racing lines when you're driving into its glare.
The visual upgrade is particularly evident when you compare it to Forza Motorsport 4, which looks a little grainy by comparison."

"At 1080p and a smooth 60 FPS, Forza 5 is the most technically impressive game available at launch for the Xbox One, and while it doesn’t surprise that the visuals look gorgeous – Forza has always looked gorgeous – it’s nonetheless impressive.
The frame rate is the most standout achievement, however. It is super slick and at 1080 that makes it all the more delicious – slipping around corners and drafting past rivals has never looked so good.
Graphically it’s as you might expect. Forza 5 maintains the series painstaking approach to detail, whether on the track or up close to your car in the garage.
There are some harsh edges, however. Often some cars – when seen from a particular angle or lighting effect – will have quite jagged edges; an issue with the anti-aliasing, perhaps?
But this doesn’t detract too much from the overall graphics of Forza 5, which consistently impress.
If you’re looking for something to highlight next-gen to friends and family, Forza 5 is certainly the game you’ll want to do that with. It might not have the same sense of scale as Dead Rising 3, or the viciousness of Ryse – but it looks damn good."
