You're naive if you think that's all that matters. You don't think MS gaming division is sitting in an office saying "How do you think we should rectify this situation? If this trend keeps up our year long lead will be nullified by both of our competition."
Sony - "This is fantastic. What can we do to keep this up?"
Businesses don't only look at current numbers. They look into the future too. If the future is bleak for them (Like getting passed by a console that cost more and came out a year after) they will talk about it in their meeting. I see this trend happening for 6 more weeks (20 week streak is awesome). Even then I'm not sure 360 can take the lead again.
