Sony's sweet advantage? Sony's only able to edge ahead of Nintendo by such a narrow margin that its within the margin of error as clearly shown by Metacritics results. This is no real victory for Sony unless you were expecting much less from Sony to begin with.

Again another matter of people wanting to believe reviews as gods law when it suits them and attacking them when they don't (I'm pointing fingers at both parties in the discussion here too).

If only this victory for Sony actually in anyway mattered. *shakes head*

metacritic isn't the most reliable site. it weighs reviews as it pleases. gamerankings is way better.

and i think you're being a bit harsh. it's like your coming down on sony for having games people generally like. would you be happier if they only released sh*t like conspiracy games?

Eh disagree. Sure the weighing should be transparent... however Play Magazine shoudln't be worth the same as IGN. Or an individual user review.

Weighting should indeed be revealed. Until then, I'd rather go by an unbiased source in gamerankings.

Unbiased because they support the conclusions you wish to believe?

No. Check my posts; I've always said I preferred gamerankings.com. If they are going to weight certain outlets without telling people how they do it, then I'm not going to trust them. I've had to e-mail them to add games to the list of new releases, too, because there are certain games they didn't seem to care about that already had reviews.

Rotten Tomatoes (movie reviews aggregate) has a "Cream of the Crop" section that is the same concept that metacritic is trying to do, except they don't seperate them. Also, when you search on Rotten Tomatoes, the score that you see is not "Cream of the Crop," it's the entire average.

It's not a big deal, and I use metacritic more because their site is better organized, because the scores are generally close to each other anyway. Still, until metacritic becomes more open I'm more likely to prefer gamerankings.

Regardless of which one you look at, Sony has a great game lineup.

Edit:  Judging from your first post in this quote, and your other posts regarding anything sony, you seem biased against Sony.   "This is no real victory for Sony unless you were expecting much less from Sony to begin with."  So if someone comes out on top there should be no celebration?  If a favored team wins a championship in a sport they shouldn't celebrate that fact with their fans?  The fact is, 2007's results in this thread are just another example of Sony's great first/second party support and a great reason to be assured there will be great games in the future, especially this year.  If you use metacritic, they are #2 to Nintendo is rankings with more games released.  That's still quite a feat since the Wii is still being help up almost by Nintendo alone because of their great software.
