Maybe because you aren't forced to pick up a pre-order?
People changed their minds and bought a Wii-U obviously ;)
EDIT: Im aware Game and Gamestop probably make you put down a deposit for a pre-order (Which im surprised is actually allowed in the UK, considering you don't pay for pre-orders until dispatch)
But do other retailers make you put down your money before hand?
