NA market accounts for around 52% of the XBox 360 entire global sales and the NA region has kept the XBox 360 ahead of the PS3 for the majority of the 7th generation despite losing in Europe and Japan regions.

All three 7th generation systems will have won a region with XBox 360 winning NA, PS3 expected to win Europe and Wii winning Japan. All three systems will have sold over 85 million systems for a combined tally of around 280 million systems for the generation.

Yep, Xbox (versus Sony):

Does very strong in USA+UK

Does ok in mainland EU, but clear second to Sony

Gets crushed in Japan

Overall has sold more than PS3 worldwide (judging by the respective 80m sold announcements) but it's basically a tie no matter which is ahead.

Most of us know this...

With 360 and PS3 at 80m, and Wii discontinued at just over 100m IIRC, will be interesting if 360 can limp past Wii worldwide. It seems possible in 3-5 years if they get continued sales in developng markets.

BTW I keep track of NPD figures, and my rough figures have 360 still 1.6 million behind Wii in the States by NPD (through October figures). 360 should make big gains in Nov-Dec obviously, but I expect Wii will still keep a slight lead going into 2014. It should be inevitable eventually of course. Depends how well 360 can do in Dec and Nov as to exactly when.

I hope MS puts out a press release when they pass Wii in USA, just so we know.

Nice post!!!!!
