after the game came out:

 You can clearly see that the polygonal crowd was replaced with 2D-Sprites/Bit maps á la Mortal Kombat/Clay Fighter in the third picture.
The first 2 screenshots show that the Lighting was changed (for the worse). Credits to the folks in the "bullshot" thread on GAF
