Honestly who cares at launch. Look I build software for a living and we always push at clients to build the most important things first and the least last. For a launch of a game console the way to see how much space you have left would be way down on the list. Is it even possible to fill the HDD at launch? What about a month later? How about 3 months later? Then think that is possible how about probable? Honestly at what time are the most avid gamers really going to fill up the HDD. Then make sure to have tools to check the storage before that time. Not to mention it does provide for ways to delete games (You still own them and can reinstall free of charge).
Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.
