I think it's more Number 2 then one. Games are becoming to much like Hollywood. Which is a mixed blessing. (Basically you get better graphics and perhaps story but you sacrifice some things or add things that should most likely not be in games. Like over the top violence, cussing, or poor game play.. etc.) Gamemakers know that a person who questions your actions or motives is good for a story hence they add them in there, or put a scene in there that has a person do so.

Pikmen 3= Little Bump to nothing. (Got Little Bump)
Wind Waker HD= Won't sell anything (The explosion happened here and at one time 4 Wii U games was in the Amazon top 100)
Super Mario 3D World= Won't help at all looks cheap. (Currently the most sought after Wii U game and continuing the Wii U increase.)
