1) Agreed. That was hilariously stupid, and anyone who tried to pass that off as a serious argument should be ashamed of themselves.
2) I agree that this is driven more by people being salty over missing out on a game they might like than the principle of the matter...but the former seems like a perfectly valid reason to be disappointed. Just as long as you're honest about it--don't pretend you're just as upset when a console you have or want gets the same treatment.
3) Yes, Resolutiongate has been a parade of hyperbole and hypocrisy. This exposed the whole "I don't play resolution" soapboxing whenever PC gaming is brought up as the two faced bullshit that it is. Turns out there are no shortage of console gamers willing to use higher resolution as leverage when it suits them.
4) This. It's perfectly valid to point out how dire their situation is...just not every five goddamned minutes.
5) The Xbox One deserved every bit of mud that got thrown at it before they reversed their policies. And even now, it still has a lot to answer for. But even I still think it's turned into the usual fanboying tripe that's standard operating procedure on gaming sites/forums. I still don't want one, but I don't see anything wrong with people who do.
EDIT: Also agree with "WiiU isn't next-gen", although that dovetails very neatly with the concern trolling in 4. People crying about Metacritic scores--particularly high ones--is also a big one. Just thinking about the shrill hysteria over GTAV's scores again makes me facepalm through my skull.
