@Linkzmaxm, well ONE of the point of this thread is to see, will PS3 able to sell on it`s 2nd year of life ~16 mln. just like PS2 did on it`s second year.

But we are counting YEARLY sales, not sales per region.
In every report from companies like Sony, M$, Nintendo, THEY count YEARLY sales, NOT 12 month in particular region.

And YES, extra time of sales in regions during first year of PS3 life helped to gain in TOTAL sales. So what? it`s PS2 problem, that it didn`t have WW launch, as long as PS3 problem, that Euro launch was 4 month LATER.
However, people compare TOTAL x360/wii sales with TOTAL ps3 sales, though PS3 wasn`t selling in Europe for 4 month.
So what is your POINT?

I understand the point of this thread.  I was just commenting on what you said about PS3's first year totals being inflated compared to PS2's first year.

If you're going to count YEARLY sales, you probably shouldn't lump 2006 into 2007 sales.  If you're doing that you might as well lump 2000 sales into 2001 on the basis that Japan was supply contrained the whole year and America and Others were only available for afew weeks.

The delayed launch really doesn't change much for TOTAL sales.  By that I mean the amount sold in the 8 months after the Europe launch is quite close to the amount that would've been sold had it been available all 12 months.  This is why it's okay to compare X360(first year)/Wii sales with PS3 sales.  It wouldn't be fair to compare TOTAL X360 sales with TOTAL PS3 sales though because the X360 has an extra year.

My point is you're skewing numbers in favor of the PS3.  But the thread is still interesting, as long as the facts aren't misrepresented.
