The point about extended warranty that ben is talking about, is that IF new consoles are having problems, it's very likely that in manufacturing error, some consoles may simply be more resilient. That being so, a "weaker" console may die today, and a stronger one in a year.
The problem is, the defect is there, so it's really not a question about IF, but a question of WHEN.
