Crap. Now that Blu-ray has won, I would love to pick up a reasonably priced player, i.e. - under $200. And no, I don't want a PS3.

How about a PS3 for 200$! =D

Not really. What I want is a nice, quiet Blu-ray player that doesn't double as a toaster oven and can easily fit in the spot my 2.5" high DVD player resides. That would be sweet.

PS3 slim would fit nicely then ;)

A slimline, $200 PS3 that produces almost no heat and runs silently? Where do I sign??

It would be nice if Sony could power down the non-essential parts of the PS3 during video playback and have a quieter system. As it is now, the PS3 consumes 173 W during DVD playback and 183 W during Blu-ray playback. :(

I have somewhat higher hopes for when Sony starts using the 45 nm Cell.
