Couldn't it be more like that Dead Rising tone has always been silly? You know, because I doubt they're trying to be "funny" to make up for bad graphics, especially since the first game bragged about how many zombies could they render on screen.
Dead Rising's funky tone has always been integral to the series. The DR3 presentation was horrendous particulary because it was way too serious.
